Terms of Service
GTelemetry dashboard, GTelemetry Recorder app and gtelemetry CLI · Last updated 10 October 2026
The short version
- GTelemetry is free. You must be 13 or over, and you keep ownership of your laps.
- Be decent: no harassment, hate, sexual content, threats or anything illegal. Under-18s can share laps but not messages.
- Block or report anyone who bothers you. We aim to review reports within 72 hours, and reports about a child's safety as a priority, normally within 24 hours.
- Never use GTelemetry while driving on a public road. On track, your safety is your responsibility.
1. About these terms
GTelemetry is run by Steve Cavanagh (“we”, “us”). These terms apply to the dashboard at app.trackandsim.com, the GTelemetry Recorder app, the gtelemetry command-line tool and this website. By creating an account or using GTelemetry you agree to them. How we handle your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
2. Your account
- You must be 13 or over and give your real date of birth. Under-18s get extra protections (section 4).
- An account is for one person. Keep your password and paired devices secure, and remove any device you no longer use under Devices….
- Your username can't be changed. Usernames and display names mustn't be offensive or pretend to be someone else.
- You can delete your account at any time (section 9).
3. Rules for using GTelemetry
When you use GTelemetry, including messages, shared sessions and your names, you must not:
- harass, bully, threaten, intimidate or abuse anyone;
- post or send hateful content, including about race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or nationality;
- send sexual content, or contact anyone under 18 for any sexual purpose;
- share or link to anything illegal, including child sexual abuse material, terrorist content, or content encouraging suicide or self-harm;
- scam, spam or mislead people, or send unwanted friend requests over and over;
- pretend to be another person or organisation;
- try to break into, overload or get around the security or limits of GTelemetry, or access other people's data;
- upload files that aren't genuine recordings, or use GTelemetry to break the law or anyone else's rights.
4. Under-18s
For accounts belonging to anyone aged 13–17:
- friend requests from other people start switched off (they can still add people they know, and switch requests on under Friends);
- conversations that include them are for sharing laps only, with no typed messages or notes in either direction;
- these protections lift automatically on their 18th birthday.
Adults must not try to get around these protections, for example by asking a child to sign up with a false date of birth.
5. Reporting, and what we do
Use Block… on a request, a friend or a conversation to stop someone contacting you; choose a reason to report them to us as well. You can also email support@trackandsim.com.
- We aim to review reports within 72 hours. Reports that a child may be at risk are reviewed as a priority, normally within 24 hours.
- A report includes your recent messages with that person, so we can see what happened. The person you report isn't told who reported them.
- Depending on what happened, we may warn the user, remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close their account. Serious or repeated breaches mean closure.
- If we find suspected child sexual abuse or grooming, we keep the evidence, close the account and report it to the National Crime Agency or the police. We may also share information with the police when the law requires it or someone's safety is at risk.
- If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999 (or your local emergency number) first.
6. Complaints and appeals
Email support@trackandsim.com if:
- you think we got a decision wrong, for example your account was restricted or closed, or your name was refused;
- you're unhappy with how we handled a report you made;
- you have any other complaint about GTelemetry or how we keep users safe.
We'll acknowledge it within 5 working days and give you a decision, with reasons, within one month. If an appeal succeeds we'll restore your account or content. For anything about your personal data, email privacy@trackandsim.com; complaints about how we handle it can also go to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (see the Privacy Policy).
7. Your laps and content
- You own what you record and upload. You give us permission to store, process and display it so GTelemetry can work: to analyse it, show it to you, and deliver it to friends you choose to share it with.
- A session you share becomes a copy in your friend's Library. It stays with them if you later delete yours.
- If you delete your account, we keep your recorded laps in anonymised form to improve GTelemetry, as the Privacy Policy explains. You can delete individual sessions before deleting your account if you don't want them kept.
- Only upload recordings you made, or that you have the right to share.
8. Driving safely
GTelemetry is for reviewing laps after you drive. Never look at or operate GTelemetry, or any device running it, while driving on a public road. On a track day, you're responsible for your own safety and for following the circuit's rules; GTelemetry's analysis and coaching are suggestions, not instructions, and may be wrong.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from the account menu → Delete account…. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms (section 5), or if we have to stop offering GTelemetry; where we can, we'll give notice and a chance to download your sessions first.
10. The service
- GTelemetry is free and offered as it is. We're always improving it, so features can change or be withdrawn, and it may sometimes be unavailable. Keep your own copies of recordings that matter to you.
- GTelemetry works with telemetry from games and devices made by others. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them, and an update to a game or device could stop it working. Your use of those games and devices is under their own terms.
11. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit, and your legal rights as a consumer aren't affected. Otherwise, because GTelemetry is free, we aren't responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, for lost data you didn't keep a copy of, or for business losses.
12. Changes to these terms
We'll update the date at the top when these terms change. If the change is significant, we'll tell you in the dashboard before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in your local courts if you live elsewhere in the UK.
